HEH: Putin, the prettiest contender for the Man of the Year Award (link).

Please click to open the MENTALart, with some incredibly funny photoshops of Putin. Yep, John Edwards is our only hope to compete with this guy! I am just not sure that Edwards has the, ahem, muscle to compete.

Putin the Time Magazine Man of The Year? Are you freakin kidding me?

Please read this article on this issue by Russian Accent. The writer (who is Russian, by the way) uses a lot of Google Trends internet statistics to brilliantly support his case that Time Magazine’s decision is, for lack of better word, stupid. Highly recommended!

Why Al-Qaeda attacked USA (not because of what you think)

This is quote from an amazing article at Belmont Club:

One of the most fascinating questions — one worthy of a book — must be why Osama Bin Laden chose to order his suicide airplanes into Manhattan rather than say, Beijing or Moscow. Both these nations have been campaigning against Muslims for centuries. And the answer, I suspect, lies in the “excited commands and shouts of glee form the Chinese on the soundtrack”. Or the veritable rain of shells that fell on Grozny in the recent past or the vicious campaign that still rages through Chechnya today. Maybe Bin Laden attacked America because he knew how it would fight. In a mode where even prisoners in Guantanamo Bay could insist upon their Korans being handled with white gloves, while a large section of America’s own media would condemn this treatment as too harsh.”

While on the same topic, a BBC News article from 2005:

China has been accused by two US-based human rights groups of conducting a “crushing campaign of religious repression” against Muslim Uighurs.

It is being done in the name of anti-separatism and counter-terrorism, says a joint report by Human Rights Watch and Human Rights in China.

It is said to be taking place in the western Xinjiang region, where more than half the population is Uighur.

China has denied that it suppresses Islam in Xinjiang.

It says it only wants to stop the forces of separatism, terrorism and religious extremism in the region, which Uighur separatists call East Turkestan.”

I, as a person who grew up in ex-Soviet Union, can tell you: the only reason why Muslims attacks USA (which did a lot of good for Muslims in Kosovo) instead of turning on Russia (which persecuted Chechens, Ingush, and other muslim peoples) or China (just read the quote above) is because they know:

Chinese or Russians would answer to any terrorist act from any Muslim organization with a wave of horrific atrocities, while USA would reply at all only if it would be desperate to defend itself. Look at Chechnya, look at Chinese Uighurs.

That is the reason why Al-Qaeda attacked USA, not Russia or China.

Judge lets man accused of child molestation go because court could find translator

This is so outrageous, that it not only has been mentioned by Michelle Malkin, but even by russian-language Independent Newspaper (Nezavisimaya Gazeta).

“Charges against a man accused of raping and repeatedly molesting a 7-year-old girl have been dropped because the court took too long to find an interpreter fluent in his native West African language.

Prosecutors pointed out that Kanneh attended high school and community college in Montgomery and spoke to detectives in English.

A court-appointed psychiatrist recommended that an interpreter be appointed and judges who handled subsequent hearings heeded that advice.

Montgomery County Circuit Judge Katherine D. Savage dismissed the nearly three-year-old case against Mahamu Kanneh last week, saying the delays had violated the Liberian immigrant’s right to a speedy trial.”

Soviet pilots fought against Americans in North Korea — translation of Russian article

This information is from an article by Russian-language “Independent Newspaper” (Nezavisimaya Gazeta). This particular article is the verbatim account by a Soviet pilot who flew against and personally shot-down scores of American F-86 and B-29 airplanes. These are historical facts, important to consider in current political situation, especially since today Russia openly helps another aggressive totalitarian regime — Iran.

Quote (translation below):

Once our commander gathered the pilots in the club. General Redkin, the deputy commander of Moscow Air force Region (General Vassili Stalin [son of Stalin] was the Commander then) took the stage. He succinctly told us of the difficult struggle North Korean Communists have with American Imperialism, about how American Air force uses napalm against cities and villages of this suffering country, exterminating human population. In conclusion he informed us that Government of North Korea has asked Soviet Union to extend military help against American Air force….

…Altogether, during three years of War in North Korea, we [Soviet pilots] shot down 170 American B-29 planes. Americans lost majority of their planes in the South-Eastern theater of the action. They did not fly anymore during the day, only during night they would venture out. But we would shoot them down anyways.

For thelong time after that Americans were shocked that their supposed “invincible” aircraft turned out to be so helpless before Soviet fighters. We called these so-called “flying fortresses” the “flying sheds”, because they would burn so brightly and quickly”.

John Edwards: how to teach the poor to hate the rich and to benefit from that hatred.

Please read this interesting discussion at 2008Voter blog, prompted by a fan of John Edwards’ “Two Americas” speech (my bold):

Nobody denies that there are poor and rich in America. There are rich in every country with exception of countries where there are only poor — that is not the point.

There are poor and rich people, there are black and white people, there are left and right — it all exists and it is a problem, everybody sees it, nobody denies it, nobody needs anyone’s lecture about that. When Edwards uses these obvious divisions, abuses the problem by inciting hatred of both sides for each other for his own benefit, he is making it worse.

Do you want the destiny for USA that Russia had in 1917, when “poor” Russia destroyed “rich” Russia? Do you want the destiny of Germany, when the same “Two Germanies” concept was used by Hitler to get to power? Please remember, that NAZI stands for National Socialist German Workers Party! So, there is no excuse to play with those socially-dividing, hate-mongering, propaganda slogans today, knowing that tens of millions of people where sacrificed for the sake of this demagoguery. That was my point.

True Story about “Free” Healthcare 2

Now, this true story happened in Soviet Union to my aunt in 1986. My aunt was about to give birth and was already in the hospital.

During that time on Soviet TV they had soap operas every night at 9:00, and these were extremely popular. So, around 8:30 that night, the head nurse told my aunt, that if she will not start having contractions in 15 minutes, they (the nurses) will squeeze the baby out with a towel, so that they will not miss the soap opera on TV!!! My aunt became so scared, she started having contractions right then and there!

True story!

What about that, Michael Moore, why haven’t you put this story into your movie glorifying “free” healthcare?
