Who is the worst president ever? (Not who you think it is!)

Today President Bush’ approval rating is at 29% (as of July 2007). Yes, it is bad. But, is he the least-approved President ever?

NO!

The title of the least-approved President ever belongs to Democrat Harry Truman, who in the months of worst fighting of Korean War received 22% approval rating.

Why is this relevant?

Because:

1. Democrat assertion (specifically, by Mr. Reid) that Bush is the worst President ever, is flat wrong.

2. It is a fact, that just like Bush today, Harry Truman mishandled the Korean War very badly. He ignored Chinese warnings about possibility of invasion. As a result, North Korea remains communist even today. However, thanks to his resolve to remain alongside our South Koreans allies, South Korea is the prosperous, wealthy country we know today.

I am pretty sure millions living in South Korea today are damn glad Truman did not follow the route modern-day Democrats wish to take in Iraq.

Perhaps, if we challenge our Congressional leaders to direct their efforts towards actually WINNING instead of LOOSING in Iraq, just maybe we can actually WIN, just like in South Korea?

    Good comparison between the two wars. I had not thought about Korea and Iraq together but I am sure you are correct in that the people of Iraq, like us or hate us, have got to see the divide that was left in Korea and wonder if they are headed towards that themselves if they don’t get their act together and allow the coalition forces to turn over power fully.

    1.
    South Koreans still demonstrate time-by-time against USA (which I think despicable after all what USA did for them) so, i would not rely to much om understanding
    2.
    besides before Korea became a democracy it was a dictatorship for quite a while am i wrong?
    3.
    on top of that , Korea did not have a pressure form Islam or Arab countries as Iraq have
    4.
    it was before Hippie and glamorisation of anti-war movement and pacifism
    today it is fashionable to be anti-bush and anti-war no matter what

    so i see your point ,golos , and i do agree that rating means nothing in this context but i would remind you that unlike president who not in the worse historical rating , congress rating according to Zogby: hits all time low ..

    Great points!

    Carter had pretty low opinion ratings too.

    However, I think it is more than opinion that makes somebody the worst or best ever. By that logic, Bush was the greatest president in modern history during the period right after 9/11.

    History, not Harry Reid or polls determine the best or worst.

    the problem is that Harry Reid thinks he is the history.(sounds like a disease)

    OK, I admit, I overlooked aspects you mentioned. But , considering your well-formulated points, it means:

    –comparison between Bush-Iraq and Truman-Korea is still valid;

    –it is likely we will have to wait longer for good results in Iraq (as you mentioned, Korea did not have so many “neighbors” who were in fact enemies);

    –it is more likely that positive result in Iraq will be much more influential in the region, than the Korea result (if all the Al-Qaeda/Iran, will fail in Iraq, it would be very, very bad for them)

    Thank you for these great ideas! 🙂

    Sure! I agree! 🙂
    I just want to emphasize that I do not dispute the fact that Bush is a bad President, I am just disputing the assertions that:
    1. he is the worst President ever
    2. as some Democrats say, going to Iraq is the worst mistake ever.

    Both of these assertions are false.

    I’m with ya. I was just emphasising what you said. I also was trying to point out, even if his poll numbers do go futher south, that still doesn’t make him the worst just as his poll numbers after 9/11 didn’t make him the best.

    Yes, I agree.

    I think the huge problem for Republican Party is that they might have decided that Bush polls after 911 will continue through his presidency. They got really sloppy — in the White House AND Congress.
