How Iraqi WMD were hidden in Syria

Just heard Chris Matthews on CNN.

He was complaining  on how ill-informed Americans are, citing  as proof the fact that Americans still believe that WMDs were in Iraq and that Saddam was linked to 9/11.

Let us see who is really ill informed here:

1. The Iraqi General Georges Sada used to be the No.2 official in Saddam’s Air Force. He desribes facts in his book “Saddam’s Secrets such as that “Iraq moved weapons of mass destruction into Syria before the war by loading the weapons into civilian aircraft in which the passenger seats were removed. The book also says that on the eve of the first Gulf War, Saddam was planning to use his air force to launch a chemical weapons attack on Israel.” Sada’s claims were not not proven to be untrue. In fact, they were just ignored.

2. The Lebanon War of 2006 showed everyone on the globe how easy it is to transport huge, powerful weapons accross borders of several countries. Hezbollah secretly managed to get in its possession 1000s of rockets from Iran through Syria. Is it not reasonable to say that same happened to Iraqi WMDs? Could anyone stake their life that no WMDs crossed border from Iraq to Syria in the run up to war? If Hezbollah managed to smuggle the rockets under the nose of Mossad and Americans, it would be a piece of cake for Saddam to smuggle WMDs during the months of demagoguery in UN, with all observers kicked out.

3. If Saddam indeed did not have WMDs, then why did he not come clean? Since he worked so hard to maintain an illusion that he had WMDs, therefore all that happened with Iraq is his fault. Who could have known that he bluffed all the way to the end? Ans besides, Saddam used WMDs in Iraq many times, specifically March 1988 attack on Halabja and Anfal Offensive. A huge pile of evidence – scientific, documentary – exists to prove that these events happened. SADDAM NOT ONLY HAD WMDs, HE USED THEM! And, if so, Iraq invasion was justified because only Matthews style wishful thinking demagogues could take chances with country openly anti-American, openly supportive to terrorism, and legally in state of war with  US .

Me personally I think it was a huge mistake of Bush to use the WMD as a pre-text for war . It was not a reason why we went there, at least not the main one. But it does not mean that there was no WMDs .To think that people who stipulate existence of WMD in pre-war Iraq are ill-informed is another self indulgence of Matthews-style softball thinking.

Your analysis is 100% correct. Thank you for stopping by my blog earlier.

As I said yesterday, I would consider it an honor and a privilege if you would add my blog “The Tygrrrr Express” to your list of linked sites if you feel the quality is high.

As I keep saying, Syria should be turned into a 50,000 hole golf course.

    Happy summer.
